Beauty Make Up

Random MAC purchases

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been tempted by anything MAC. I just felt I had all I needed and the collections were falling a bit flat for me. But then an urge to try a new foundation came over me and I found myself drawn back into the clutches of MAC.

So I had a bit of a browse of the counter, and already knew I was going to pick up a Studio Sculpt – that and the MAC face and body are the ones I see the most raves about from fellow bloggers, and following a quick tweet asking for MAC foundation recommendations I decided to go for this – since I already have MAC f&b.

I seem to have a strange affliction where I can’t leave a shop with just one item. I don’t know why, but I felt the need to buy something else – so I picked up one of the new long-wear pro eye shadows, in Sweet Satisfaction. The long wear shadows are a new addition, but permanent and there are some lovely colours in there.

I hate to be picky, but I don’t love that they are a different size to the usual shadows. In terms of use and texture, they aren’t any different so would be nice to be able to de-pot and put into a palette, but because they are bigger this isn’t an option.

Sweet Satisfaction is a cool brown shade with a cool shimmer running through it. It’s a safe option – I wanted a go-to colour that I can apply in the morning and will last through the work day. I know, I probably have loads of this sort of shade already… but I wanted to try something new.

Here are a few swatches of the Studio Sculpt. I’ve been wearing this pretty much daily since I bought it and I’m a little undecided about what I think – I think I like it, but from the raves from others I feel I should be loving it, so wonder if I’m applying it wrong?! If you use Studio Sculpt and have any tips or tricks for how you apply this to look flawless I’d love to know. I also find it doesn’t last all day really, it seems to rub off a bit too easily!? Again, might just be my application – so any tips more than welcome!

MAC Studio Sculpt NC20

It was a tough call between NC15 and NC20 for which colour I was – I’m pretty much in between. But I decided to go with NC20 as normally I would have a bit of a fake tan on, so figured the slightly darker shade would be better. On the swatches above, they are on my inner arm – which is paler than my face, so the contrast isn’t as dramatic.

On another note, I think I’ve been colour matched to a different colour EVERY time I’ve been to a MAC counter. Very confusing, I’ve been a NW previously, but now an NC… confusing.

Anyway, there are my little MAC purchases from last week. Please share any magic tips you have for the Studio Sculpt!!

I’ve been matched differently a few times too, from NW25 to NC15?? I’m far to pale even in summer to be a NW25. I’ve never tried Studio Sculpt so can’t help with application tips. I’m currently wearing and liking the new Matchmaster in 1.0 which I apply with a Sam Chapman stippling brush. I’m really liking the brush with any foundation actually, gives good coverage and a little goes a long way.

This foundation looks good and is currently on my list to try along with the MAC Matchmaster one.

The eyeshadow looks like it will be a fab easy-to wear neutral for everyday looks – I agree with you on the non-standard sized packaging though. I like everything to look the same otherwise it proves troublesome when it comes to organisation!

I wish I could afford MAC. I’d love to try them out. One day maybe! :)
Nice blog BTW. I enjoy reading other people’s opinions. I have a beauty product review blog too :) I’m really enjoying writing reviews. I have sooooo many products it’s good to do something else with them other than use them :)

I read from America, (greetings from NY!) and first have to say how much I love your blog. Your my go to before beauty purchases!
As for MAC – I am a MAC junkie. I love their products with a fiery passion. I own more Mac products than I know what to do with.
So I used to use studio fix, but now in the last 6 months or so I started using their mineralize foundation and powder…. and I have never been happier! Paired with their prep & prime serum & prep and prime skin visage, it gives you such a smooth, flawless look – it doesn’t look like your wearing makeup at all. Just looks like you have smooth, flawless skin. And I love that it is very light, you can build your coverage up.
Love your blog and had to comment on this one! Hope your having a fabulous day!
