Here’s to 2012… and welcome 2013

So the end of 2012 has been and gone, and the end of one year and the start of another always feels like it’s time for a bit of looking back at the past 12 months and also time to look forward to the next 12 to come.
It’s not totally like me to get all soppy and sentimental on my blog or even too personal – and don’t worry, this wont be too deep and meaningful at all. But just a few little thoughts that I wanted to put out there on my little corner of the Internet.
Twenty twelve has been an interesting year for blogging – the pool of bloggers has continued to get bigger and bigger, understandably so! Starting the blog is one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made so I can totally understand why so many want to start their own – and as much effort as it can take – I would whole heartedly encourage anyone considering it to go for it – and my couple of bits of advice that I can offer you are the following:
First – don’t feel you have to stick to a blogging mould, do your own thing – it doesn’t matter if it’s not what others are doing. Try things out and don’t be scared to do things differently!
Secondly – be patient, your blog will be your little project and will take time to grow in terms of you feeling it represents you and also in terms of your audience growing. Prioritise the first over the second and you are on the right track.
For me, 2012 has been largely a good year – I’ve enjoyed blogging and all the amazing experiences it has brought my way. I’m not going to talk about regrets or things I’d change, I want to be positive and look forward so with that in mind, here are my blogging/life resolutions for 2013:
1. Be a better friend
Now, don’t read this wrong and think I’m a bad friend – I don’t think I am/hope I’m not! But I am guilty of not spending as much time with some of my closest friends and family as I would like. Sometimes I find other bits of life get in the way and next thing you know the days have flown past and and it’s been weeks since you last saw them. In 2013 I want to dedicate much more time and energy to my friends. This also means I will be far better and more organised with the little things like cards and presents for birthdays and other milestones!
2. Try new things with the blog
In Feb 2013 I’ll have hit my four year blogging birthday, which is a little crazy (four years!). So I want to try some new things, new types of posts covering new things…I don’t totally know what these new things will be yet… but I want to keep things interesting – both for myself and for those of you reading! Only time will tell what these new things will be! But stay tuned…
3. Make being healthy a bigger part of my life
A little predictable – I don’t want to make it just ‘loose weight’ although at the end of the day, that would be a nice bonus. But I want to make living a healthier lifestyle a bigger priority for me, exercise in particular is always the first thing to drop off the priority list when life gets hectic. In 2013 I want to make it more of a priority – I’m never going to be a gym bunny or give up carbs, but I want to make it standard to make some healthier choices!
4. Finish more stuff
I have always (way before starting the blog) been guilty of getting to around 10/20% of a product is left, then putting it to the side and moving on to something new – but still hoarding the last bits of a product. Which considering I also don’t like clutter, it is a bad combination… in 2013 I am going to get rid of the clutter, finish more products (including make-up, which I am terrible at actually finishing) and not start new ones until the old ones are finished.
I think that’s plenty of new years resolutions for one year – I want to stick to them! What resolutions have you made for 2013?
