Nioxin 30 Day Challenge

I have banged on and on about my difficult scalp, so I wont go into detail – but it’s a pain. It’s very sensitive and seems to only respond well to a very limited number of products, even those designed especially for the scalp.

I have also banged on about how frustrating it is to have really fine hair. Whatever I try, even if it delivers volume – it’s rare for it to last.

IMG_4670So when given the chance to take Nioxin for a trial run for 30 days and report back on the results I jumped at the chance. Nioxin is designed to ‘retune your hair and scalp’ to help deliver thicker hair and improve the health of the scalp. All of which is like music to my ears… and I had HUGE hopes for the combination! So for all of December I’ve been using this three part system – shampoo, conditioner and scalp treatment for normal to thin looking hair.

My overall thoughts are fairly mixed – one one hand, I am really happy with how my hair feels, in terms of both healthiness and volume. It does feel thicker and ‘happier’ than it does normally, so that’s fantastic.

What I’m not totally sold on is the scalp health – granted, my scalp is about as sensitive as they come – but I have found my scalp, especially around the edges of the hair line, has still been quite dry and uncomfortable. when I had hoped this would have cleared things up a little.

So slightly mixed results – great on volume but the scalp health part I’m not 100% sold on. But the caveat being that my scalp is unique in it’s sensitivity – so if yours perhaps isn’t as sensitive then this might be just what you’re looking for!

Hi, do you know how much it costs? It sounds interesting :)

Maybe your scalp doesn’t like this regimen because of the sulfate in it (SLS)… I’m sure if you avoid sulfates in shampoo your scalp will improve (avoiding sulfates resolved my father’s dandruff and itchy scalp problem)
