Birchbox Dinner of Discovery

March 9, 2013

I recently went on a lovely evening ‘Dinner of Discovery’ to find out a little more about Birchbox – the latest beauty box to join the UK market (after it bought out Jolie Box). I’m quite excited to see what Birchbox is going to bring to the UK as I feel as if it’s basically the only ‘main’ competitor to Glossybox so will be interesting to see what each brand brings in terms of their monthly goodies!

I have to say, whilst I am sent boxes from these brands for review so don’t pay for them – I am a big fan of the whole idea and would definitely be tempted to subscribe. The idea of a fairly small amount to pay each month and then being delivered some lovely products to play with really appeals to me.

One of the most fascinating things from the Dinner of Discovery was sitting next to Mollie Chen – an American beauty editor who was the ‘inspiration’ for the whole Birchbox Concept. She was constantly delivering samples of products from the beauty cupboard to her friends to try…which sprung the idea of making it a regular thing that you could sign up to – so you can discover new products on a regular basis.

Above you can see a snap of the contents of the Feb LFW themed box (a bit late…) I’m really impressed with the quality of the Birchbox Eyelash Curlers. The Korres Shower Gel is perfect for travel and the thickening hair spray is fabulous!

I haven’t tried the EBoost sachet yet but I do like how they mix beauty and lifestyle!

Birchbox is £10 +P&P for more info see the birchbox website

I was a guest of Birchbox for the dinner. Box is a PR sample.

These looks like really big samples, a lot bigger than glossy box! I love the concept of the box and get so excited receiving things through the post so I will have to give birch box a go :)

What a fun dinner. Something I’d love to do. I don’t subscribe to Birch Box, but I think it’s a great idea and a way to broadcast new products.

The first UK Birchbox was awful though. What a bad way to start!
