The Bourjois Face
Next up for my series of ‘one brand face’ posts I asked the lovely people who follow me on twitter (@beautyjunkieldn if you’re wondering) what brand I should do next and the clear favourite was definitely Bourjois. And without being totally bias, I have to say I’m happy to do with Bourjois as they’re my favourite affordable/drug store brand and consistently have products out there that compete against much more expensive ones, for a fraction of the price… so it was time to raid my collection for my choices for the Bourjois face…
So what products did I choose… for the ‘essentials’ I went with the products I have from the Healthy Mix range. Which is a really lovely range and as I said at the start – is a perfect example of the brand offering products that feel so much more premium than their price point. I used Healthy Mix Gel Foundation* in shade 52 plus some Healthy Mix Brush Concealer* for under the eyes to brighten. Then a touch of the Healthy Mix Pressed powder* to set – this is a handbag staple of mine.
For colour I used a touch of the Bronzing Primer* to ad a bit of warmth and a subtle contour on the cheeks then topped off with the new Blush Exclusif* – a colour adapting cream to powder blusher that looks like a scary bright pink in the pan but really adapts and looks healthy when applied. This is absolutely fab – if you like the existing cream blush range, then you will love this.
For the eyes I used the Bourjois Little Round pot in shade 74 - a warm taupe shade that I simply applied with my fingers and pressed on the the eyelid. These can be used wet or dry, but I decided to go with dry for this look. Then I added a pop of shimmer/brightness along the lower lash line with the champagne shade from the Shadow & Light Pencil pencil duo (12. Gris & Petale)*. For mascara I used a combo of the Volume Glamour Max Holidays* (a waterproof mascara) in black and the new Twist Up the Volume Mascara* (not pictured). I applied the Volume Glamour but it felt a bit clumpy for me so I used the Twist Up the Volume, which has an adjustable comb style wand, to smooth things out a bit and ad a bit more length.
Then, as the final touch I went for a pop of colour on the lips with the Shine Edition Lipstick* is shade 20 – a bright but glossy coral. I was going to use one of the new Color Boost lip crayons but decided to save these for a whole separate post! I really like the Shine Edition lipsticks though as they’re really creamy and easy to apply – but still bright!
On this post, unlike the other brands I didn’t really feel I could leave out the nails…so I picked out two of my favourites and went for a colour combo manicure. I used the One Second Gel in ‘Blue no Blues’* for the accent nail and So Laque in ‘Bleu Fabuleaux’, one of my all-time favourite blues.
The only thing ‘missing’ from this is the brows – as I don’t have any brow products from the brand in my collection and didn’t really want to cheat and use another!
So there we have it – the Bourjois Face! What do you think? What brand should I pick next for the one brand face post? Comment below and tell me what brand you would like to see!
