Date Night Makeup

Last night I went on a bit of a date, so decided to do a date night make up post. We headed down to London Bridge to go to Gaucho. Gaucho is a specialist steak restaurant and there are branches to be found in a few places across central London. I’ve been to the Charlotte Street one before, but this was the first time at the London Bridge location – the views were stunning, but more on that in another post. This one is all about the make-up I went for on the night, picking out some old favourites and some totally new to the stash ones too.

Starting with the base I went for a bit of priming with No7 Instant Illusions Rapid Radiance Balm* (not shown) and then applied NuBo Voile* – a sheer, tinted cream that adds a glow and slight evening effect all over. It’s one I’ve had in my collection for eons and only just tried out (bad blogger) as now having looked I can’t find it on the NuBo website so it may have been discontinued – although why I have no idea as it’s lovely. I then added a bit of brightening under the eyes with the infamous YSL Touche Eclat* – using a trick I learnt from them at a masterclass to not just use like under-eye concealer (as it isn’t a concealer anyway) but extend it down the cheeks to add a highlighting brightness. The I picked out a new foundation from Shiseido to try – their Sheer and Perfect Foundation*. It’s very light and liquid – a bit like Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua in that sense, but applies and blends gorgeously to create a sheer but perfect base – just as the name perfects. My ideal sort of foundation as it’s so light, but does even things out. Plus leaves a light finish – a touch of glow, but not shiny. Very much liking this one. I used a touch of Bobbi Brown Corrector* just on any imperfections and blemishes that were showing too.

For cheeks I pulled out the Estee Lauder ‘Cello Shots’* in the shade ‘Hot Fuse’ to add just a touch of flush to the cheeks. I then added a smattering of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder palette (not shown) all over (the least shiny shade all over, touch of the shimmery one on the cheekbones).

For eyes I wanted to go smokey, which I thought I had managed but Ollie kindly pointed out I looked the same as usual…so perhaps need to dial up the smoke a tad in future. But I went for a base of the Clinique Lid Smoothie in ‘Ginger-ly’*, then used the fat end of the Wild About Beauty crayon in Polly*- a deep purple shade – across the lid, up to the crease. I then used my finger to smudge some MAC ‘Bronze’ eyeshadow on top, to create a bronzey-purple smokey eye. I also used the Wild About Beauty Pencil along the lower lash line too. Maybe not as smokey as I was going for, but I was happy.

I then finished off with a few layers of my new favourite mascara – the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye* (review here – it’s amazing). Then filled in brows with my NARS Yamal Eyeshadow* and then a coat of the Miss Sporty Clear Mascara that I’ve recently picked up as a brow fixer (bargain alert!). Then on the lips I used YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in shade 9 ‘Nude In Private’ * (my favourite ‘my lips but better’ shade) and voila – my date night makeup was ready and I was off to consume my bodyweight in steak (and cheese).

Oh wow I’m so in awe of your makeup bag! I love Shiseido and Bobbi Brown products! You’ve used them beautifully too 🙂

Not sure if it’s of interest but I happen to have a freebie eyelash extensions appointment at the London Spa Room to give to someone – I’ve done a little giveaway post on my blog if you were interested? (Bought it for my sister and she can’t use it!) so I was looking for any London based ladies who might want it (then just pick a name at random or something). I’m relatively new though to blogging so just finding my feet / reaching out there! Love your blog 🙂
