L’Oreal Color Riche L’Extraordinaire

So L’Oreal has a new lip product offering and it’s a bit of a mouthful – ladies and gentlemen, these are the L’Oreal Colour Riche L’Extraordinaire *. Basically – these are the latest offering in the gloss/lipstick hybrid family and they are rather impressive. The formula is an oil and pigment blend, rather than the traditional oil and wax combination – meaning that the finished product is more hydrating than the average lipstick. Plus they claim that the oils mean that the ‘real colour’ is revealed as the oil is clear, rather than the slightly opaque shade of wax.

I have three shades here to show you: 600 ‘Nude Vibrato’ (the nude), 201 ‘Rose Symphony’ (the pink) and 304 ‘Ruby Opera’ (the berry). Take a little scroll for lip swatches below…

The three shades are all quite different, with my favourite being the 201 ‘Rose Symphony. It’s a pretty, but bright pink – but not so bright it’s unwearable. Just that ‘perky’ pink colour that I find works with my colouring and ‘lifts’ the face a little. The red shade – 304 Ruby Opera is the one that looks the most different on the lips. It looks far more bright red, than deep berry as it looks in the tube. It’s a very pretty colour and was just pipped at the post for favourite by the Rose Symphony shade. Rose Symphony has the slightest amount of shimmer in the forumla, which operates as a light reflecting perfector when on the lops. The others have something similar, but it’s on the pink that it’s most visible.

As for the Nude Vibrato shade, I don’t love this as much as I thought I would. It didn’t apply as evenly as the other shades and I found it tended to highlight flaws more than create a wash of colour over them. It’s a pretty nude shade, and maybe it’s just down to having a bit of chapped lip problem – but it just doesn’t really work for me.

If you like the whole gloss/lipstick hybrid of say the Rimmel Apocalips type of product – but perhaps want something a bit more sheer. These are a good option. They don’t have the stain of the YSL Glossy Lip Stains, but they are comparable finish on first application. So a good bargain buy.

The L’Oreal Color Riche L’Extraordinaire * lip colours launch this month and will be available in Boots (Β£8.99)

On the first one I thought you weren’t wearing anything at first. I do like that “barely there” look for lips but it is not as shiny as the other ones. The third shade is something I wouldn’t really wear because I like lighter shades. I might dare to wear the second one though because I love the glossy look of it.

I picked up ‘Molto Mauve’ which is a gorgeous colour with a perfect glossy finish, but so strongly scented even on the lips it really puts me off wearing them!
