Travel Skincare Essentials

Like any good beauty junkie, when it comes to packing light – I fail on the skincare/beauty front. I’m getting better though as I tend to pack now by what products I need. By that I mean I list out the types I need, then select the actual products (so cleanser, eye make-up remover, day cream, night cream etc). This is a little run down of my travel skincare essentials for my latest adventures.

So going in order of use (from day to night…)

Cleanser: Kiehls Ultra Facial Cleanser – a good all rounder and I have a couple of travel sized tubes of these stashed away which makes them perfect for travel rather than lugging full sized.

Moisturiser: Clarins Hydra Quench – I’ve been absolutely loving all things Clarins Hydra Quench Lately. This was another one I had stashed away and is perfect as an all-rounder moisturiser for whenever I need an extra boost. Post flight I was almost using this like a serum/pre-moisturiser, before I added the day or night one as an additional layer of hydration.

Eye Cream (day): Khiels Multi-Correcting Eye-Opening Serum. Bit of a mouthful, but a lovely eye cream. Plus small and lightweight – brownie points for travelling. This one feels really light but nice and hydrating. The serum also has a slightly pearly finish to it, I’m not totally sure it translates on to the eye area or not but I do feel a bit brighter/more awake after using this.

Day Cream: Olay Sensitive Protection. Have to have something with SPF in it, whatever the season and wherever I go. This is my latest love and is the full sized version and the same bottle as I leave at home but didn’t want to leave it behind for the sake of a smaller sized alternative product. This is a good all-rounder for skin, nice and creamy and hydrating but doesn’t feel heavy at all.

Make-up Remover: Bioderma Travel Sized. Such a handy size, just wish it was possible to get the lid off and top up rather than need to repurchase every time! This is my go-to for removing make-up at the end of the day so needs to come with me wherever I am.

Eye Make-up Remover: Elemis White Flower Eye and Lip Make-up Remover. This is a dinky travel sized of the one I’m using at home that I was pretty excited to find in my mini-sized stash. This is a dual layered one (oil and liquid) and does a good job of taking stubborn eye make-up off (and a long lasting lip too!). My eyes get really irritated if I don’t remove my make-up properly so this is a must have.

Exfoliator: Clarins Gentle Exfoliator. I wouldn’t really tend to take one of these on a weekend away, but any longer than four days and will be popping into my bag to help shift any dead skin. Especially if a long flight is involved in the trip then this is necessary or my skin will look dull as dishwater. This one is a great gentle option and lovely and creamy. Really do love Clarins skincare overall actually.

Eye-Cream (night): Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye. This is a must have for me wherever I go. I don’t know what it is, but across this and the classic face serum I am well and truly on the Advanced Night Repair bandwagon with zero plans to get off.

Night Cream: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. As above, adore this stuff and is one I use home or away and wouldn’t be without it for love nor money. Seriously kick-ass stuff. I’ll combine this as my serum plus a touch of the Clarins Hydra Quench if my skin is feeling really parched. But more often than not my skin is quite happy with just the serum. Adore this stuff and would be one of my top all time products for sure.

What are your travel essentials for skin care? I always used to take skincare for granted when on trips or holidays – I guess with beachy holidays I don’t tend to wear make-up so that takes a whole step out but I’d probably be guilty of reaching for a face wipe instead of a proper cleanser. But as I’ve developed my skincare routine I’ve found it just as easy to do as long as I keep consistent with the steps!
