Holiday gadgets to pack

I feel like I’m starting to be able tick off the whole ‘organised packing’  thing as something I have down. It’s not something that comes naturally for sure – I need to still master ‘packing light’ but I figured being an organised packer is at least a start. So I’ve been making a few notes on the holiday gadgets I love to take with me and thought it might be a good time to share, since full on holiday season is right around the corner.

holiday gadgets

1. Kindle – Without a kindle on holiday I’m pretty lost. In fact this time around I had a bit of a meltdown where I couldn’t find mine and was all set to attempt to read on my iPhone… but my lovely husband saved the day and treated me to the latest kindle in duty free (partly because he’s awesome, partly because he wants me to leave him in peace to read too I thinj…). But I do love to read as much as possible when away so a kindle is an essential. More on what I’ve been reading whilst Sea/Poolside in another post…

3. Music – For this trip I actually went a little old school and dug out my old iPod to re-listen to the songs I loved to bits before the days of iPhones having music and everything you need. It was a good trip down memory lane and reminded me how eclectic my music taste can be!

4. Travel Camera – As much as I adore taking photos on my DSLR (Canon 600D) I can’t stand taking it away with me as it’s just so bulky. So now I either take my Olympus PEN or Canon EOSM camera with me… I chop and change over which I prefer of the two all the time so still like both in different ways. The one shown here though is actually Ollie’s Sony Cybershot that he picked up when he headed over to Vietnam and Cambodia last year. He loves it as a lightweight, easy to use camera that fits in his pocket. Simple.

5. Headphones – Am guilty of just using the standard iPhone headphones when out and about in London. They’re just easy to carry and aren’t too much pressure if they do get damaged in the chaos at the bottom of the bag. But for longer trips or travel I bring my Skullcandy headphones – they’re just more comfortable to wear and they’re great for blocking out plane noise too. Well worth investing in a good pair of headphones – although I do feel like I look like a muppet with them when not on holiday!

Of course with all of the gadgets… you also need to remember the chargers and adaptors for them all or else you’re a bit stuck…

I had been resisting buying a Kindle holding on to this romantic idea of paper books being better but I recently went on holiday and most people had Kindles so ended up buying one online so it was here as soon as I got back!
