MAC The Matte Lip {Beauty}

September 15, 2015

A matte lip has basically been THE way to wear lip colour in 2015. Whilst a matte lip has been a classic look for a long time, there’s something that feels fresh about that shine free finish. Which is pretty ace as the new MAC The Matte Lip collection just launched with a whole host of matte lip shades – including these two, D for Danger and Men Love Mystery.

Men Love Mystery – is an unusual one. On first look I wasn’t sure it was for me. It’s a creamy purple mauve type of shade and not one I would ever have thought would work for me. But on a whim I gave it a go and it was instant love. This may very well be my colour of the season as there’s something perfectly A/W about it.

D for Danger – a classic deep red. One thing I noticed about MAC is that they do love a bit of danger. From Lady Danger, to D for Danger and I believe there’s also a shade called Dangerous in the matte range too. There is something vampy about a classic red. This one is a deep shade but not as deep as something like Russian Red.

The thing I found from wearing Men Love Mystery is that it’s matte but not super-drying matte. My lips are basically always on the parched side but this sits comfortably on my lips rather than sucks all moisture out of them. In fact, if I didn’t know I probably would have guest they weren’t a matte formula at all?! Although the finish isn’t shiny – it isn’t totally matte like the retro matte formula. It’s a tad more creamy than that. Which is a good thing as nobody wants prune lips.

So basically Men Love Mystery – and so do I! Expect to see me sport in this shade on a regular basis this Autumn & Winter!

The MAC The Matte Lip * collection is out now.

    The only thing that stops me from wearing matte textures more often, is that they are so drying, so it’s nice that these feel comfortable. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to wear the mauve shade, but I love the look of that red!
