Last week I headed down to Sloane Square for an hour of escaping the world into the fab Richard Ward Salon. It’s a bit of a West London hairdressing icon don’t you know – and whilst I’d heard of it many a time, it wasn’t a salon I’d been to before. It’s pretty impressive. Located in the Duke of York Square – which was looking rather beautiful on a sunny Autumn day. It’s been recently refurbished as is very impressive looking. From the full bar (yes, really) to the seemingly endless styling, colouring and washing rooms to the spa. It’s a luxe little London haven.
I was there to try out the L’Oréal Professionnel Pro Fiber treatment – specifically for dry and damaged hair. Whilst my hair does lean towards dry and you would think would be damaged after years of colouring – Joey, my hairdresser for the day said it wasn’t damaged at all and was actually in pretty good condition. Always nice to hear.
So as I have fine hair he opted to use ‘Revive’ formula for my hair as it could just do with a little more hydration and care but didn’t need the full ‘Restore’ or ‘Recover’ treatment that are ideal for either heavily damaged or thicker hair which is in need of heavy duty treatment to get back feeling fab again.
There really is something about having a treatment in a salon that just feels especially good. I don’t know if it’s just having someone really thoroughly wash your hair or the head massage or whatever. But my hair always feels so much better after a salon wash/blow dry. Throw in the treatment and the excellent styling/blow dry skills of Joey and I was a happy customer.
I left with my hair feeling as healthy and fresh as it does when it is first cut. Plus it had volume and bounce but to a nice healthy level, not going into ‘drag’ heights – which can be the case when in salon blow dries go a bit too keen.
The best bit being that whilst there’s the intense in-salon treatment – there’s also the at-home kit so I can keep the benefits up now I’m home. There’s an at home follow up Pro Fibre Programme with six tubes of treatment to be used following the treatment. Along with the at home care range with a shampoo, conditioner, deeper conditioner and leave in treatment. Which helps re-boot the effectiveness of the in-salon treatment when you wash (every fourth wash you use the recharge booster).
So basically, you go home and use the at home routine of shampoo/conditioner/leave in with the deep conditioner as needed. Then every fourth wash you use the Re-Charge booster to keep the effects going. I do like it when a salon treatment isn’t just a one-wash wonder.
