BareMinerals Gen Nude

Once there was a time that a nude lip was either A) nothing or a clear balm or B) a concealer shade of lipstick. Now? Nude could basically mean anything from a subtle pinky gloss through to darker lipsticks or a matte rosy lip stain. Basically, nude can mean whatever you want it to from texture to shade. Which is great to see brand accommodating that one nude is another persons ‘this makes me look dead’ or the other way round, one persons nude is a dark intense lipstick for someone else. As like with variations on the colour of skin tones of course that means the lip shade of the ‘nude’ category must vary too. The perfect example of this is the new BareMinerals Gen Nude collection. I have just a little peek at it today so showcase a selection of the textures and shades they have launched as a celebration of all things nude…not like that…cheeky.

The Gen Nude launch includes: Buttercream Lip Gloss (10 shades), Matte Liquid Lip Colour (10 shades), Radiant Lipstick (15 shades) and Under Over Lipliner (5 shades).

I have one lip liner, two lipsticks, two gloss and two matte shades to show you here. Going from left to right above I have:

Lipstick in Kitty, Gloss in Groovy, Gloss in Tantalize, Matte in Bo$$, Matte in Swag, Liner in Vibe and Lipstick in Queen.

These shades offer a pretty good showcase of the spectrum of nude shades in the BareMinerals Gen Nude launch. From the paler peachy shades up to darker brown shades and a splash of rosy pink in the middle. My personal favourite of this selection is Swag as it’s just my sort of shade as I’ve realised that paler nudes that I maybe used to wear a few years ago just aren’t as flattering anymore and I actually suit a stronger colour on my lips. This is the ideal ‘nude’ that looks more polished but still like I’m clearly wearing something rather than bare lipped.

When it comes to all things nude (again, not that) where do you stand. Is it getting a bit over saturated with options for nude make-up or the more the better so you can get that perfect ‘my lips but better’ look. God I love a blogger cliche like that…
