Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense

January 24, 2017

Jo Malone has a new Cologne Intense on the block and it’s a good-un. The Cologne Intense fragrances are headier scents than the core cologne range. Hence the ‘intense’ name. There’s quite a range and they can work well layered with the regular colognes to create your own signature. They’re all technically unisex but of course some scents lend themselves to being more traditionally masculine or feminine. This one – Jo Malone Cologne Intense Myrrh & Tonka – is definitely one that lends itself to being a masculine fragrance.  OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I remember reading another blogger (sorry I can’t remember who it was – if I do will add credit!) describing this as smelling like a particularly sexy man. That’s exactly what it smells like. Heady, a bit oud-y and Intense. Like smoky chocolate, strong coffee and aftershave all blended together.

This is definitely one Jo Malone fragrance I’ll be happy to pass on to Ollie to wear. And breathe it in deeply when he does.

I was wondering which fragrances might layer and combine with it and my first thought was something like Pomegranate Noir. On the Jo Malone site it suggests two options. The new Basil and Neroli (one of my favourites for day to day) or the Velvet Rose and Oud. I imagine the former giving it freshness and the latter adding some sexy intensity. Oooh sexy intensity…. hubba hubba.

On that note….

The new Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense * is out now.

Available in a new smaller (cute-sized) 50ml and the standard 100ml. £74 for 50ml and £105 for 100ml.

Oh, I would love for Mr. Loca to smell that way. A men smelling great is my weakness. One of them.

My experience with Jo Malone fragrances is very limited yet this one sounds very different from the usual dark, heavy colognes, at least to me. Layering it with Basil & Neroli sounds like a great idea indeed, especially for the summer time!

I had a quick sniff of this when I last passed my local Jo Malone store and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since! I love really rich, deep scents, so this one is right up my street. I think I may have to pop back in soon and treat myself!
