I started writing a post the other day about January and how I choose not to diet/kick off any drastic new lifestyle changes in that first few post-festive months. As much as I start the year raring to go with work/life motivation, I also totally recognise now that it is February how trying to overhaul my diet/exercise habits immediately following a month (or so…) of excess and indulgence is likely to just make me miserable and in the long run be less likely to stick.

So instead I like to bring in smaller changes, and as each week or so passes I can look to introduce more as time passes. One of which at the end of January has been to re-introduce supplements into my routine. I’ve taken various vitamins/supplements over the years but over 2016 I got out of the habit. But I’ve introduced a new one into my day-to-day – Seven Seas Simply Timeless Cod Liver Oil – I’ll be honest and say I have looked at Cod Liver Oil type supplements in the past and always had the impression of them being a bit ‘old school’, maybe the sort of thing my grandma would swear by but had gone ‘out of fashion’ in recent years. Seven Seas has recently updated the packaging of their Cod Liver Oil range with new branding. The formula has remained the same however so it’s good to know that it’s the same great product that’s been around for generations.. But, frankly it’s a bit stupid for something with so many benefits to fall off the radar for no good reason.
There’s a reason it’s such a generational favourite – a daily dose of Cod Liver Oil is an extra way to support your body, top up your natural resources as you get older and support your general health and wellbeing.
Seven Seas Cod Liver Oil contains vitamin D to support normal bones and is a rich source of essential Omega-3 fatty acids which helps maintain normal vision and brain function; the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg. Recommended dosage is 1 tablet per day with cold water.
It’s funny how hitting my 30’s has made me think a lot more about elements of health I’ve taken for granted in the past. From eyesight, to flexibility. All of which I’ve always assumed will be all OK without intervention… well, let’s just say I need glasses and could do with some serious stretching practice. Small lessons, but rather learn them early. A big part of the refreshing of the branding of Cod Liver Oil is to remind younger generations of the benefits of taking it – alongside the other things you do that make age nothing but a number. Seven Seas is calling it the #TRUEAGE movement – nobody can change the fact that time will pass and ageing happens. But despite this, you don’t have to behave in a way just because that matches the number of years you have been around! Considering I’m pretty much convinced I’m still a teenager in my head… that works for me!
One of the major things that appealed to me about adding a Cod Liver Oil supplement into my routine are the support for healthy bones, purely because last year I cut out a lot of milk/dairy from my diet. I used to consume a lot of milk and always credited this with things like having never broken a bone and having nails that grow long pretty quickly. In the last year I’ve noticed how my nails break quicker and take longer to grow. Whilst I know the other reasons for cutting milk have been right for me, I am pleased I can add something like the Seven Seas Simply Timeless to my routine as a way of supporting that gap in my diet.
Right now it’s early days, I’ve been keeping the pot on my desk to remind me to pop a little capsule every day – which has worked a treat Monday-Friday, but I have been prone to forgetting at weekends when I am less desk-bound (even if I tend to work, I usually do so from my laptop on those days so it’s easy to forget…) so my first tip would be get two pots and pop them in places you will never have chance to forget. One on your desk and one by your toothbrush perhaps!
I’ll be updating you on how I’ve been feeling after a few weeks of adding Seven Seas Simply Timeless Cod Liver Oil (I’m trying the one-a-day capsules) into my day to day in a few weeks. But any questions you want to know please just leave a comment or drop me a tweet.
